The plot in the book Confessions of a Shopaholic is how Becky, the main character, gets herself out of a tricky situation. She has no money left in her bank account to pay her many credit card bills from all her shopping trips. The turning point in this story is when Becky is on one of her many shopping sprees and the salesperson tries to run her credit card but has no success - not with any of them! This forces Becky to make some changes in her life and start working to save money. Becky gets a new job working at a magazine called "Successful Saving". This is a funny place for a non-saver to work. Becky decides to take her job seriously and writes helpful advice which she herself uses. I wasn't surprised with Becky's decision to take her life into her own hands and start saving money, I guess that's what most people would do at some point.
