The main character of "Confessions of a Shopaholic" is named Rebecca
Bloomwood. She is a young woman in her early thirties who is
a fashionista. Rebecca wears the latest fashions and continues to buy them as they hit the shops. She feels the need to look glamorous, clean, and "in".
This would not be such a problem if her bank account could keep up with her expenses. Her bank account is always low and credit card companies have already stopped her cards. When Rebecca feels down and depressed, she shops to feel better. The problem is that she always feels down because she never has enough money to afford the clothes she would like, and then she shops.
As the main character, the plot turns around Rebecca. Whatever she does effects the other characters in the plot. When she fights with her roommate Suze, Suze turns depressed and so does Rebecca. When Rebecca finds a job consulting people on their financial problems, her advice effects others. While thinking about Luke Brandon, Rebecca gives poor advice to her parents' neighbors. The neighbors then lose all their money. Rebecca needs to get her act together.
